Kids sandals should feel secure without rubbing or slipping. The heel should sit firmly in place, straps should be adjustable but not tight, and toes should be fully supported within the sole. A good fit helps prevent discomfort during all-day wear.

As a general guide, kids sandals should allow approximately 8-10mm of space between the longest toe and the end of the shoe.
Because sandals are worn barefoot or with thin socks, too much extra room can affect stability and increase the chance of tripping.

This also provides enough room for natural growth and foot movement while still maintaining proper support and stability.

    1. Grab a tape measure or ruler
    2. Stand your child against a wall with their heels right up against the wall
    3. Make sure their feet are straight and flat on the ground
    4. Measure the distance from the wall to the end of the biggest toe, in mm
    5. Repeat for the other foot - usually one is bigger than the other, it's normal!
    6. Use the biggest measurement and add 8 to 10 mm of ''wiggle room'', and 10 to 12 mm for school shoes. This gives you the inner sole measurement of the shoe size you need to buy.
    7. Each size of our shoes will list the inner sole measurement next to the size.
    8. Note that the sizing can vary between different styles of our shoes [a size 24 in one style is not always the same in another style]. This is due to different molds being used to create the sole for different styles. So please check the measurement for the size each time!

Example: Biggest foot measures 150 mm. Look for a shoe size that is 158 - 160 mm.

Closed-toe sandals offer added protection for active children, particularly during play and outdoor activities. They help shield toes while still providing breathability, making them a practical choice for everyday wear. We find closed-toe sandals are particularly well-suited to toddlers.

A well-fitting pair of kids sandals should feel secure at the heel, allow natural movement across the ball of the foot, and provide space at the toe for growth. Your child’s toes should sit comfortably without pressing against the front of a closed-toe sandal, or hanging off the front of open-toe sandals. The shoe should not slip when walking. Regular fit checks are important, as children’s feet grow quickly.

Leather sandals are breathable, flexible and durable, making them a comfortable option for warmer months. They help reduce moisture build-up and soften over time for even more comfort!

Supportive, well-fitting sandals are suitable for regular wear in warmer weather. For very active days or sports, closed shoes may still be a better option.

Buying kids sandals online should feel easy and risk-free. If the fit isn’t right, it’s important to have the option to exchange or return, which is what we offer at Surefit. We recommend checking the fit of the sandals on your child or children as soon as your order arrives.
